ABOUT GOOD NEWS NWK
Our Story
Good News NWK began life in 2017 and was the creation of 3 family members: Kingsley, Wendy (Nokuthula) and Christina. All had a background in social care, with Christina and Wendy both having been registered social workers, and Kingsley having had a long career in children’s residential care that encompassed roles from support worker through to manager.
All three were committed to helping children with disabilities receive high quality care that was both person-centred and aspirational.
When it came to deciding upon a name for their venture, Kingsley, a dedicated Christian and church leader, chose the name ‘Good News’ as he felt that in the same way that Jesus Christ delivered good news and hope to the world, through delivering a service that offers quality of care and aspiration, Good News NWK could deliver a similar positive message of hope to children with disabilities.
The suffix ‘NWK’ was then added to recognise the initials of the directors of the organisation. The N stands for Nokuthula, the W for Wendy, and the K for Kingsley.
Once a name was decided upon, Good News NWK’s first home, Alexandra House, opened in 2017. This was followed by Rock Road House in 2018. As these flourished, a third larger home, Edinburgh House, was then opened in 2022.
However, the aspiration doesn’t stop there, and the company intends to continue to grow at a steady rate and offer more ‘good news’ to children with disabilities with further homes planned to open in the near future.
